Scary Day

Today was a scary day for Asher. He woke up this morning, had a morning cup of milk and then started swelling and getting hives and turning red. Roger and I ran him down to the closest Medical Clinic, but they didn't know what was happening. They sent us home to give him Benadryl and Pedialyte. After we got home Asher started getting sicker and we decided he needed to go to the ER.

Asher promptly threw up all over the waiting room at the ER which got us back even faster. They saw he was having an Anaphylactic reaction to something and gave him a shot of Epinephrine and some steroids, later we added in some more Benadryl for the hives.

Asher was worn out (and so were we) by the time we got out of the trauma area and into an observation area. We turned out the lights and took a little nap.

After a few hours Asher's swelling was gone, the redness was gone and the hives were gone. We got an Epi-Pen for the future and took a very tired baby back home.

Praise the Lord he is better!

Fight Night

Last week Asher was involved in an altercation in the middle of the night. Evidently, he got into a fight with his blanket...

...and the blanket won.

Actually, he just woke up like this about a week ago. We couldn't figure out what had happened to him, so we headed to the doctor for the second time in 6 days and he was diagnosed with an allergy to an antibiotic and hives. A little benadryl and it was all better.

Nine Months

This past month has been full of milestones for Asher. He can feed himself and he can stand up.

He still will not crawl, but he does try to pull up to standing. I am starting to think he is going to skip the crawling and go straight to running. Asher also started clapping his hands this month, he likes to show off and clap them when there are lots of people around.

The past few weeks have been pretty rough for Asher. He has gotten 4 teeth, had an allergic reaction to yogurt and he currently has his second ear infection. Before the past week I had never called the pediatrician, I think I have called at least five times since then.

At our most recent trip to the doctor's office Asher weighed 19 lbs 4 oz.

And, oh yeah, this month Asher decided he loves to eat grass.
