Snail Love

We finished another busy week. We are now without a househelper (those of you without househelpers go ahead and roll your eyes, those of you that live in this part of the world will sympathize with me) and I am studying Thai every afternoon for two hours. Those two things have combined for some busy mornings and one tired momma. I really miss having Asher's nap time to sit down or get stuff done, but it's totally worth it for me to really get to study Thai and be able to talk to more people.

It's been an adjustment, but for the most part Asher and I can get the house clean (and a few days a week get the floors mopped) and sort of keep up with the laundry. Rainy season makes it a bit hard to get the clothes dry, but we are absolutely loving the cooler weather. Asher has become quite the sweeper/mopper/duster and I think he actually enjoys the time we spend cleaning the house every morning.

Roger and I discovered that rainy season brings a lot of snails to our yard. Roger and Asher have taken to snail hunting most nights after dinner. It's gross, but I figure with a house full of boys I better get used to creepy crawly things. In fact we recently ate dinner with a snail in a tupperware bowl sitting on the counter.

Asher loves looking for snails and I went out the other night to capture a few pictures of the nasty little things he loves to look for.

Snails are nasty. The more you see them the nastier they become.

Snail meet Stick. It's not a gentle stick because it's being held by a non-gentle 22 month old that likes to hit things with sticks.

Here's the stick and Asher. I would be afraid if I was a snail. Actually I am afraid and Asher knows not to hit me with the stick.

Uh oh! Where did the snail go? It's under Asher's shoe. Oh well, I'm sure there will be more snails tomorrow.

Another Kind of Bubble

Our new dishes arrived from Chiang Mai last week! I'm really excited about them because they are mine, they match and I will now have more than four plates. Really, it's the little things that make me happy.

Asher was also really excited about our new dishes because they came in a box full of bubble wrap. After we unwrapped all of the dishes we threw all of the bubble wrap on the floor and let him have some fun.

He jumped right in and had a blast jumping on the bubble wrap and rolling around in it.

In this picture he looks like he just got caught doing something bad.

The best part was that when he was finished he insisted on picking up all of the bubble wrap and putting it back in the box. We are saving it for when we move (not that we have plans to move, but we move a lot and I like to stay prepared) because in the past 3 years I have spent way too much money on bubble wrap.

Have I mentioned that Asher loves to pick up stuff and put it away? At church I have to watch him because he wants to pick up toys the whole time and he has a bit of a problem understanding that other kids want to play with the toys, not just put them away. The other moms at church know how much he loves to pick up toys so they always let him put away all of the toys after church.

Tomorrow we go to the doctor for a check up and an ULTRASOUND! We are hoping that we get to see if this baby is a boy or a girl. I will hopefully have an update and pictures soon.

My New Floor Cleaner

Our friends The Powell's recently wrote about their new dishwasher and I thought that it was time for me to share about my new floor cleaner.

No, no, this is not about my new house helper (although we love having her in our home, she's teaching Asher Thai) and it's not about some new Thai cleaning product I've discovered.

It's about this little guy. And his broom.

Asher in Virginia - Week 6

Asher's week in photos is late this week, but definitely worth the wait.

Sunday afternoon Asher was helping us with laundry, he loves to get into the laundry basket (and the drier and the toilet and anything else he can reach).

Monday morning Asher found a handsome boy looking at him in the mirror...and he decided to give that boy a big kiss! Every morning Asher spends a good amount of time checking himself out in the mirror, making sure he looks good before school.

Tuesday we picked Asher up early from school and went to the playground. Usually Asher just hangs out in the swings, but today we let him loose on the big kid playground. He showed off by climbing up to the very top to play with the wheel.

Wednesday afternoon after school Asher was showing off his walking skills in the quad. He got tired of walking, so he went back to crawling and soon ended up under a chair.

Thursday night Asher needed a bath and after we got him all clean we wrapped him up and took some pictures of that super cute baby in the mirror.

Friday evening Roger and I had to go out for a few hours and these wonderful friends watched Asher for us. Although he looks unhappy in the picture they told us he had a good time.

After a long, tiring week at school Asher was ready to get some sleep on Saturday afternoon. He took some good long naps this weekend and got himself ready for another busy week.
